This course explores the ancient relationship between the cannabis plant and humans with Kevin Spelman, PhD. The module traces the history of cannabis botany, the ancient cultures that have used it, and its evolution as a plant. Dr. Spelman gives a general overview of plant cannabinoids, terpenes, and other botanical compounds that warrant a therapeutic effect. This fundamental course discusses the nuances of cannabis speciation, nomenclature, and explores the difference between genotype and phenotype. Dr. Spelman also examines what indica and sativa really mean and why cannabis “strains” are a misnomer.
