Lowder\, MD is a board-certified oncologist trained at Case Western Reserve University and Stanford University\, formerly on the staff of the Cleveland Clinic. He has worked in development in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic industry for 30 years and is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Impact-Naturals\, a company developing cannabinoid products for use\nin the enhancement of life-style and personal health. Impact-Naturals aims to produce products which are designed using scientific principles throughout their journey from inception to the hands of the customer. \n  \nPatrick Tso\, PhD graduated in 1978 from the University of Western Australia in Physiology working under Professor W.J. Simmonds. His thesis work was on the role of biliary lecithin on the formation and secretion of chylomicrons. He has worked extensively with the gastrointestinal tract and the lymphatic system (over 40 years)\, especially the absorption of lipids. He has published at length on the formation and secretion of chylomicrons and the process regulating it. He was awarded the Distinguished Research prize from the American Physiological Society for his work on apolipoprotein A-IV. Over the years\, his laboratory has pioneered a number of concepts and approaches to study intestinal fat absorption. He has over 20 years on various NIH Study Sections and 4 years on the NIDDK Council\, and has consulted with a number of pharmaceutical companies including: Ajinomoto of Japan\, Lilly\, Johnson and Johnson\, Pfizer\, Upjohn\, Catalent\, Abbott Nutrition\, Merck\, Sankyo. He is currently the Mary Emery Professor of Pathology.

Addie Ron\, MD is the featured speaker who will be exploring: Emerging Indications for Medical Cannabis in Older Adults. \nDr. Ron will talk about the major indications for medical cannabis in older adults and share some of his  published and unpublished data\, including real life stories from his practice. Members can log in to the membership portal for instructions on how to join. \n  \nRSVP >> \n  \n \nAddie Ron\, MD is an Israeli physician certified in Geriatrics and Family Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in Gerontology from Haifa University and completed a Geriatrics fellowship program at Boston University Medical Center. Doctor Ron is a practicing clinician for the last 20 years working at Maccabi Health Services\, the second largest HMO in Israel. In 2017 he entered the cannabis field as well by joining Niamedic as the Medical Director. NiaMedic is a medical data company offering healthcare\, research & consultation services in the cannabis field. As a Geriatrician Doctor Ron focused on treating older adults with Medical Cannabis while collecting data and following hundreds of patients. He recently published with his colleagues a summary article: Medical Cannabis for Older Patients Treatment Protocol and Initial Results (J Clin Med 2019 Nov 1; 8(11):1819.). Doctor Ron continues his practice and research in treating older adults with medical cannabis and is now cooperating with Tikun Olam on summarizing the effect of medical cannabis in reducing polypharmacy.

DESCRIPTION:As part of our continued efforts to share more information about the clinical evidence covered in the SCC’s Clinical Training Curriculum\, our webinar series “Meet the Authors”\, will give participants a unique opportunity to experience discussion with experts in the field of medical cannabis. \nDon’t miss the July edition of “Canna Talk with Frye and Wilson-King” on July 22nd as we explore Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency with Ethan Russo\, MD\nThese educational webinars are free for all to attend. The curriculum co-directors Patricia Frye\, MD and Genester Wilson-King\, MD will host informal conversations with Russo and discuss his line of research on the topic of Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency and clinical pearls he learned along the way. Join us by registering via the link below. \n  \nREGISTRATION >> \n  \nEthan Russo\, MD is a board-certified neurologist\, psychopharmacology researcher\, and author. He is the Founder and CEO of Credo Science. \nPreviously\, he was Director of Research and Development of the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute (ICCI) based in Prague\, Czech Republic. Medical Director of PHYTECS (2015-2017)\, a biotechnology company researching and developing innovative approaches targeting the human endocannabinoid system\, and from 2003-2014\, he served as Senior Medical Advisor\, medical monitor and study physician to GW Pharmaceuticals\, United Kingdom for numerous Phase I-III clinical trials of Sativex® for alleviation of cancer pain unresponsive to optimized opioid treatment and initial studies of Epidiolex® for intractable epilepsy. \nHe graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (Psychology)\, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School\, before residencies in Pediatrics in Phoenix\, Arizona and in Child and Adult Neurology at the University of Washington in Seattle. He was a clinical neurologist in Missoula\, Montana for 20 years in a practice with a strong chronic pain component. In 1995\, he pursued a 3-month sabbatical doing ethnobotanical research with the Machiguenga people in Parque Nacional del Manu\, Peru. \nHe has held faculty appointments in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Montana\, in Medicine at the University of Washington\, and as visiting professor\, Chinese Academy of Sciences\, Harvard University\, and Johns Hopkins University. \nHe is a Past-President of the International Cannabinoid Research Society and is former Chairman of the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicines. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the American Botanical Council. He is author of Handbook of Psychotropic Herbs\, co-editor of Cannabis and Cannabinoids: Pharmacology\, Toxicology and Therapeutic Potential\, and author of The Last Sorcerer: Echoes of the Rainforest. He was founding editor of Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics\, selections of which were published as books: Cannabis Therapeutics in HIV/AIDS\, Women and Cannabis: Medicine\, Science and Sociology\, Cannabis: From Pariah to Prescription\, and Handbook of Cannabis Therapeutics: From Bench to Bedside. He has also published numerous book chapters\, and over fifty articles in neurology\, pain management\, cannabis\, and ethnobotany. His research interests have included correlations of historical uses of cannabis to modern pharmacological mechanisms\, phytopharmaceutical treatment of migraine and chronic pain\, herbal synergy and phytocannabinoid/terpenoid\, serotonergic and vanilloid interactions. \nHe has consulted or lectured on these topics in 44 US states and Canadian provinces and 44 countries on six continents.
