His passion is providing non-pharmaceutical options for chronic disease prevention\, treatment and reversal\, using 4 Pillars — food\, movement\, relaxation & community — as cornerstones of an integrative approach. \nHe received his Medical Doctorate and completed residency training at the University of Colorado and remains on the clinical faculty. Dr. Dave is board-certified in Internal and Integrative Medicine and a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner with the Institute of Functional Medicine. \nCurrently\, Dr. Dave provides medical cannabis and integrative medicine consultations at 4 Pillars Health & Wellness\, the practice he owns and operates. He is also the Medical Director at Revive Treatment Centers\, a world-renowned neurological rehabilitation and optimization facility that transforms the lives of brain injury survivors. \nFor over 10 years\, Dr. Dave has reviewed research on cannabis and our endocannabinoid system and witnessed the safety and effectiveness of cannabis while working with patients. He serves on the advisory board of Leaf 411\, a non-profit that provides education and directional support to the general public about the safe use of legal cannabis. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our quarterly meeting\, available to all SCC members. Dr. Julie Holland is the featured speaker. She will be exploring: Cannabis and Connection – Therapy in Troubled Times. \nWhy does hugging feel so good? Why are cannabis sales skyrocketing in our time of social isolation? The pleasure of social interactions are enabled by not only oxytocin\, but also the endocannabinoid system. Dr. Holland will discuss her private psychiatric practice and how cannabis medicine fits into her framework of the chemistry of connection. Her book Weekends at Bellevue chronicles her nine years running the psychiatric emergency room as an attending physician on the faculty of NYU School of Medicine. Frequently featured on the Today show and CNN’s documentary series “Weed\,” Holland is the editor of The Pot Book and Ecstasy: The Complete Guide. (Both books are non-profit projects that help to fund clinical therapeutic research.) \nDr. Holland is the medical monitor for several MAPS PTSD studies utilizing MDMA-assisted psychotherapy or testing varieties of cannabis with varying CBD/THC ratios. She has worked for decades on US drug policy reform based on harm reduction principles. \nHer 2016 book\, Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking\, the Sleep You’re Missing\, the Sex You’re Not Having\, and What’s Really Making You Crazy has been translated into eleven languages. Her most recent book\, Good Chemistry: The Science of Connection\, From Soul to Psychedelics was published in June 2020.

As part of our continued efforts to share more information about the clinical evidence covered in the SCC’s Clinical Training Curriculum\, our new webinar series “Meet the Authors”\, will give our viewers a unique opportunity to experience discussion with experts in the field of medical cannabis. \nDon’t miss the first edition of “Canna Talk with Frye and Wilson-King” on March 25th as we explore Cannabis\, Women’s Health\, Pregnancy\, and Breastfeeding.\nThese educational webinars will occur on the fourth Thursday of each month at 9am PST/12pm EST and are free for all to attend. The curriculum co-directors Patricia Frye\, MD and Genester Wilson-King\, MD will host informal conversations with course authors on each episode of the series. We will uncover how each author was introduced to cannabinoid medicine\, what inspired them to focus on their particular specialty\, and clinical pearls that they have learned along the way.
