Simmonds. His thesis work was on the role of biliary lecithin on the formation and secretion of chylomicrons. He has worked extensively with the gastrointestinal tract and the lymphatic system (over 40 years)\, especially the absorption of lipids. He has published at length on the formation and secretion of chylomicrons and the process regulating it. He was awarded the Distinguished Research prize from the American Physiological Society for his work on apolipoprotein A-IV. Over the years\, his laboratory has pioneered a number of concepts and approaches to study intestinal fat absorption.
